Instructions *** 10-28-16 pretty good and very different than what i expeceted in american chop suey, much less tomato, finally made this one as i noticed the recipe was from the boston globe dec 14, 1986!!!! *** 1 # lean ground beef 1 tb olive oil 1 onion chopped 1 clove garlic crushed 2 carrots chopped 1/2 t ground allspice 1 t ground cinnamon 1 tb tomato paste 1 1/2 c chicken stock salt and pepper to taste 4 oz dried macaroni, small shells or penni 8 oz mozzarella cut in to 1/2 inch cubes 3/4 c grated parmesan in large ovenproof skillet cook meat until browned remove meat and wipe out pan add oil and heat add onion, garlic carrots, lower heat cover and cook 5 minutes set oven to 400 return meat to pan stir in allspice and cinnamon stir stir in tomato paste, stock, salt and pepper bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes meanwhile cook the pasta drain pasta, shake colander to remove water and stir into sauce add the cheeses, stir, and transfer skillet to oven bake for 5 miniutes serve at once This recipe published with BigOven, and can be imported instantly by BigOven users.
