s PHILLY CHEESE STEAK HANDPIES ***** s

12-11-19 these were great but crumbly, you need a big spatula to move them around

1 t olive oil
1/2 pd grd chuck
1/2 c chopped yellow onion
1/2 c chopped green pepper
1 1/2 t montreal steak seasoning
1 T all purpose flour
3/4 c shredded provolone
1 (14.1 oz) pkg refrigerated pie crusts at room temp (2 crusts)
1 lg egg
1 t water
1/4 t grd blk pepper
garnish- chopped fresh parsley

preheat oven to 425
line large baking sheet with parchment (i fought the paper getting the pies off so there may be a better solution)
in large saucepan heat oil med high
add beef onion pepper & steak seasoning
cook stirring occasionally
until beef is browned and crumbly
about 5 minutes
stir in flour stirring for 1 minute
remove from heat
stir in cheese

unroll pie crusts on lightly floured surfsace
place half of beef mixture in center of each
fold over pressing out excess air
crimp edges with floured fork
place pies 2 inches apart on prepared pan
in small bowl mix egg and 1 t water
brush on to pies
sprinkled pepper on
cut vent hole in top ( i did not need to they were vented enuf)
bake till golden brown 15 to 18 minutes
let cool on wire rack 15 minutes
garnish with parsley if desired........
